How does it work?
Every day, we query the official TMDB API to retrieve the most popular movies and TV shows worldwide. This data is aggregated, ranked by popularity and vote score, and made available on TrendingShows.
Data Source
All data (titles, posters, ratings, descriptions, genres) comes from the public TMDB API (The Movie Database). TrendingShows does not host, store, or reproduce any video content. This product uses the TMDB API but is not endorsed or certified by TMDB.
How is the ranking calculated?
The ranking combines the TMDB popularity score (based on page views, votes, and favorites) and the average user rating. Titles are updated daily to reflect real-time trends.
Genre Filtering
You can filter trends by genre (Action, Comedy, Thriller, Horror...) on the Movies and TV Shows pages. TrendingShows covers 20+ TMDB genres. Filters are applied instantly without page reload.
Statistics Page
The Statistics page provides an overview of analyzed data: top movies and shows right now, genre distribution, average ratings, and update frequency. Data comes from the latest daily collection.

How often is the data updated?
Rankings are updated automatically every day, overnight.

Rankings are based on global TMDB popularity, which aggregates data from many platforms. Scores reflect worldwide interest in each title across all platforms.
How are the displayed movies and shows selected?
TrendingShows displays the 40 to 100 most popular titles of the moment according to TMDB. Only titles with a sufficient vote count are included to ensure data quality.
Is TrendingShows free?
Yes, TrendingShows is completely free. The site is funded by advertising (Google AdSense). No sign-up is required.
