Série coréenne

The series ranking of 26 July 2026 contains four Korean productions, two of them in the top six. No other country outside the United States places more than one. The interesting part is not the count but the variety: police action, historical mystery, revenge thriller and supernatural comedy. This portrait looks at an industry that has stopped exporting one genre and started exporting a method.

Agent Kim Reactivated
Série coréenne
Agent Kim Reactivated is the best placed of the four, fifth, with 130.81 popularity and a 7.269 rating. Its 39-vote sample is tiny: the series attracts strong interest but has not yet been judged at scale. On air since 26 June, it combines action, crime and drama, the triptych that has become the signature of the contemporary Korean format.

The East Palace
Série coréenne
Sixth with 104.95 popularity and a rating of 8 from 40 votes, The East Palace has only been airing since 17 July. Reaching that level in nine days implies immediate pickup by foreign audiences. Its blend of mystery, action and historical reconstruction matches the genre Korea exports most after the thriller.

A Shop for Killers
Disney+
Released in January 2024, A Shop for Killers still ranks eighth with 74.60 popularity and 8.4 from 183 votes, the best rating in the group. Two and a half years on, the series is still being discovered. That is the most underrated function of the Korean industry: producing titles that do not depend on news cycles to travel.

Spooky in Love
Série coréenne
With 39.71 popularity and 8.4 from 12 votes, Spooky in Love comes last but supplies the decisive element of this portrait: comedy. Airing since 18 July, it combines humour, the supernatural and romantic drama. Its presence shows Korean exports are no longer confined to the dark register that made them famous.
Four series, four genres, four different production years: Korea does not occupy this ranking through a passing wave but through a system. Three elements recur in all four titles. First, a short, closed season that does not demand a multi-year commitment from viewers. Second, a deliberate mixing of registers, with the romantic comedy of Spooky in Love sitting beside the supernatural without either cancelling the other. Third, high ratings drawn from small samples — 8.4 for A Shop for Killers and Spooky in Love, 8 for The East Palace — indicating a highly engaged audience still growing internationally. That last point is what makes this presence worth following. With 39, 40 and 12 votes, these series have not yet met the wider Western audience; they are in the process of doing so. The ranking is recording a movement underway, not a settled result.
