The global TV shows ranking is updated daily. It aggregates worldwide popularity data to give you a unique view of what the world is watching right now.
"Silo" leads the ranking with ★ 8.2. Average rating across top 99: 7.8/10. Dominant language: EN (54 titles).

THE GHOST IN THE SHELL
Nearly forty years after Masamune Shirow's founding manga, and thirty after the 1995 animated film that inspired an entire generation of creators, The Matrix first among them, Ghost in the Shell returns with a new animated series. The 8.2 it holds in our ranking suggests the essence survived the journey, which was far from obvious for a license this revered and this often revisited. We find the cyborg Motoko Kusanagi in 2029, in a Japan unsettlingly close to our own, at the moment she and Aramaki found Section 9, the public security unit tasked with striking threats before they hatch. An international conspiracy is already taking shape, and with it the questions that have always made the saga rich, where does the human end, where does the machine begin, and what is a soul inside a fully artificial body. Every revival of the franchise raises the same fascinating question. What is left to say about the fusion of man and technology, in an era where artificial intelligence is no longer science fiction but dinner table conversation? Plenty, apparently. The themes Shirow explored in 1989 now sound less like speculation and more like current affairs, and the series clearly understands that. The most revealing part of our data is that the show performs far beyond the traditional anime audience. It is settling into mainstream rankings, carried by viewers discovering the universe as much as by devotees who know it by heart. Great science fiction has that rare ability to become contemporary again with each passing decade. Ghost in the Shell never stopped being contemporary, the world just finally caught up with it. That 8.2 deserves placing on the corpus scale. Among the titles covered in these pages, nine sit at 8.0 or above, and seven of those nine are series rather than films. Ghost in the Shell belongs to that group, alongside One Piece, Rick and Morty, FROM, House of the Dragon and Silo. More telling still, it is the highest rated revival of the whole set. The other legacy relaunches covered here land well below, Little House on the Prairie at 6.0, Moana at 5.1, Minions & Monsters at 6.4, The Devil Wears Prada 2 and Cape Fear at 7.1. Reviving a beloved property is statistically the riskiest move in our data, and this one is the clearest exception to that rule.

Why Television Is Winning the Ratings BattleToday’s TMDB trends tell two different stories. Movies hold the largest popularity scores, with The Odyssey at 937.0796 and Moana at 607.7654, while several television series collect ratings above 8.4. These measures should never be treated as equivalents. TMDB popularity responds to attention and activity, while the average rating reflects user votes. The gap reveals differences in audience and release rhythm rather than automatic television superiority.
Mushoku Tensei Is This Week’s Demanding Catch-UpThis week’s recommendation is not the easiest show to endorse, but it may be the most rewarding one to discuss. Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation carries an 8.469 rating with a TMDB popularity score of 153.6953. That combination suggests a series with less exposure than House of the Dragon but unusually strong approval among viewers who entered its world. Fair warning, that enthusiasm does not erase the deeply uncomfortable behavior of its protagonist.Every day, thousands of films and shows circulate across streaming platforms, and it has become difficult to tell what genuinely works from what simply benefits from a big marketing push. TrendingShows exists to answer that precise question: what is the world actually watching right now, and why.
Our rankings rely on worldwide popularity data aggregated by TMDB, a community database fed by millions of users around the world. That score combines several signals: page traffic, vote volume, list additions and how those indicators have moved over recent days. We pull this data every night, sort it by content type, then keep seven rolling days of history so we can measure movement rather than frozen positions. A title climbing ten places in three days tells you something a static top list never shows.
One important note for reading our pages correctly: popularity is not quality. A blockbuster panned by critics can dominate the ranking for two weeks simply because everyone is talking about it, including negatively. That is why we systematically display the average viewer rating next to the position. The gap between the two is often the most interesting piece of information on the page. We also do not measure the platforms' actual watch hours, which Netflix, Disney+ and Prime Video release sparingly and according to their own methodologies. What we measure is the worldwide attention paid to a title, which is different and often more revealing of the trends taking shape.
The main ranking filters by type and genre, with twenty categories covering everything from action to documentary. The Statistics page gives you the wider view: dominant genres, language distribution, release years, average ratings compared between film and television. Our weekly report breaks down the week's movements with genuine editorial perspective, and our blog publishes a daily analysis devoted to one specific title, its production context, the reasons behind its success and what it reveals about the current landscape. That is where the bulk of our real work lives.
